Watched Vi Hart while eating breakfast. Enthusiastic about making Hexaflexagons!
Walked Eve to preschool then came with me to the post office and watched more Vi Hart about prime numbers while we waited. Talked about the prime numbers on the way home and how it would be interesting to see if there are any patterns in the primes in Pascal’s triangle.
Doing more on spreadsheets. Looking through all the available functions to see if he could make it do what he wanted – we did manage using the INDEX function. Interested in writing custom functions – we will have to find out how to do this together.
Walking to get Eve, coming straight back as very hot!
Toby did more spreadsheets once we got home.
He then drew little pictures of shapes and boxes to represent stories and asked me to guess what was going on in the story. This was inspired by an animations we watched a while ago which test for theory of mind which is often lacking in people with autism.
We printed off Pascal’s triangle and started looking at patterns – especially prime number ones. We watched a video about rows with prime numbers as the first non-one element have all multiples of that prime (except the ones!).
Toby watched a Ted Ed about the beauty of Pascal’s triangle.
Drawing mazes!
Reading Think of a number maths book – starting with Pascal’s triangle but then continuing to read.
Lots more spreadsheets – looking at more reference documents to see what functions he could find. He even did a bar graph plot!
Math factor – more on ordering fractions.
