Boxing Day

Again I am writing this the following day so will not be as detailed.

We again did planning for the day but a little less than for Christmas Day but mainly because Toby sees them more frequently. We did a family tree of everyone who was there and did subjects for the people Toby sees less often. We listed the presents they had bought and did the actions and rewards for the day as well.

Toby coped much less well on Boxing Day – we are not sure why, some possibilities are: that we’d had a busy day the day before where he’d had to deal with a lot of people, that it was more chaotic because there were 4 other children and baby Mia, that there was not a clear quiet space for Toby to be in alone. Everyone was just as understanding and didn’t pressure Toby.

He wanted to go home and found it difficult to stop the iPad but we did manage the day. Kevin spent some time with Toby listening to and reading out Toby’s stories on the iPad. I took Toby out for a walk to the shops to get batteries – Toby explained that it was clear in his head why he wanted to go home but he couldn’t explain it in words. After that we got started on the periodic table puzzle in Mia’s room, Chris came in and carried on with that. Chris spent a long time upstairs with Toby reading one of the Maths Quest books and watching the primitive life videos. Toby then came down to look at his presents – he did a very good job saying thank you to everyone for them. He especially liked the maze game from Granny and Granddad and the blocks puzzle from Julie and Luke. We let Toby do ipad in the car on the way home for doing well.
