This is our first day of official home educating! We had a great day and fitted a lot in. I was keeping a list of all the activities today, here’s the list with a few extra details. In future I’ll try to work on making it more interesting ๐Ÿ™‚

Toby was trying to explain how to build a castle made of toast, he got a piece of paper and did a step by step drawing to make it clearer!

Out in the car Toby asked Chris about road markings, they discussed them and watched a video about yellow and red route clearway.

Toby had his morning iPad (which he gets for getting completely ready and encourages independence). Watched Nina and the neurons about why houses have pointy roofs.

Toby then drew a maze – mazes have been Toby’s favourite thing to draw since he was tiny.

Toby watched Khan academy chemistry videos – chemical bonds. He read about different elements in his periodic table book, asked questions and did table salt crystals experiment.

Played rhythm app on iPad – for improving piano playing.

Practised what the different chemical bonds are: ionic – give and take electrons, covalent – share electrons, metallic?

Octonauts – Emperor penguins

Numbers 100 – 1000000 in Spanish – video and then practise

Toby wanted to create his own language in notes – created his own numbers which were a combination of English and Spanish numbers – shows he had learnt the Spanish numbers

Some maths – methods to calculate dots on stall. It was interesting that we both used different methods for 9 * 12!

Demonstrated that he remembered the Spanish large numbers.

Piano – Spring Vivaldi

โ€‹Composing a song in Notion

Toby wanted to know how to move the staff from C4 up to C6 – it was not obvious how to do this and Chris and Toby worked together to find the solution

Library – Toby enjoyed playing on the touch surface! Here’s Eve at the library ๐Ÿ™‚

Playground briefly as started spitting with rain

Reading Chemical Chaos book

Maths workbook for 9-11 year olds – 19 minutes. He did decimal places – multiplying and dividing by 10. He also did prime numbers.

Geomag

Rhythm again

5 mins intense Spanish food words – solidifying learning from previous session. So had definitely remembered the learnt words.

Imaginary play with Eve

Chess with me – helped me to win and was great sportsman ๐Ÿ™‚

Learning about scanimation after seeing Eve’s book Gallop! and asking how it worked. Watched part of a video by the creator – he was talking about mixing art, optical illusions and technology. Didn’t finish it as there a couple of too grown up bits!
