Recently, Toby has been talking about Eve feeling much happier than he generally does. He feels that she has much more fun. His example is that she enjoys dancing around the kitchen more than he enjoys going to Kidspace (and Kidspace is his top activity!).

As parents we feel that Toby does have a generally lower mood than Eve, for example, feeling anxious or angry more often. However, we see lots of times that he is happy and having fun. I wonder why these are not the times he remembers.

I wondered whether we could bring the good times to his attention more. I have heard about simple apps that record mood every 15 mins or so with emoticons.

Yesterday, Toby said that while he was in school he had a friend but then he bit her on the arm and she didn’t want to be friends with him anymore. He said that he didn’t understand why he bit her. This was interesting as we hadn’t been been talking about this subject so I wonder why he was thinking about it. Also interesting that he has never (I think?) reflected upon this before but he did appear to care about her at the time and she him.
